Calgary’s first thermal house with private saunas will open this October

A new relaxation destination is dropping soon, bringing some serious bliss to the Calgary Northwest.

Leela Thermal House will be unveiled to the public on Oct. 6, introducing a new wellness journey to the community.

With private thermal contrast therapy suites, massage, and other treatment options, this is set to be a completely customizable and personalized wellness experience.

The destination is the latest concept from Leela Eco Spa and SKA Thermal Spa. It’ll also be the first spa in Alberta dedicated to solitary contrast therapy suites.

That means you’ll enjoy an experience that’s completely private while you steep in the health benefits of thermal temperature fluctuation.

What to expect

Leela Thermal House will open on Oct. 6, 2025, 6180, 5111 Northland Dr. NW. A healthy 2,400-square-foot in size, the retreat pairs private hydrotherapy sessions with a 60-minute massage.

It aims to create a complete two-hour journey that refreshes both the body and mind.

“We wanted to create a wellness experience that feels deeply personal from start to finish,” says Gaurav Gupta, owner of Leela Thermal House, in a press release.

“In most spaces, wellness is shared with crowds and strangers, which can make it harder to fully relax or feel at ease,” he continues. “We believe wellness is a deeply personal journey. A private space makes wellness feel comfortable, safe, and freeing — exactly as it should be.”

Before each session begins, you’ll be provided with all the essentials, including a robe, slippers, towels, body scrub, and a secure phone sleeve.

You can guide yourself through the 60-minute hydrotherapy circuit, which includes a sauna session with guided meditation, a cold plunge, and a salt scrub shower.

Each private sauna is designed from Estonian wood and includes a custom cold plunge, shower, and a private changing space.

You can expect other amenities like guided meditation and rejuvenation stations with tea and health elixirs to complete the experience.

Leela Thermal House will be a place for intentional rest, where you can hit pause on your busy schedule and relocate bliss.

If you’re looking to find some solitude in the hustle and bustle of the city, this is your ticket!
