You can bus from Toronto to Bruce Peninsula’s famous Grotto this summer

You don’t need a license to visit Ontario’s must-see destinations. You can take a bus from Toronto to the stunning Bruce Peninsula National Park, Algonquin Park, Elora Gorge, and more this summer.

Canada’s non-profit bus service Parkbus has its summer schedule ready and it’s one of the most convenient ways to get out of the city without a car.

The 300-km journey is approximately 4 to 5 hours from Toronto, but the coach seating, air conditioning, and onboard bathroom will make it a comfy one.

To start your journey, you’ll need to meet at 34 Asquith Avenue (at Bloor and Yonge) to be picked up.

Once you arrive, you’ll be dropped off in Tobermory, a charming town at the tip of Bruce Peninsula.

You can also choose to stay on the bus until the final stop at Cyprus Lake Campground, a gateway to the famous Grotto, Overhanging Point, and a number of caves inside the National Park.

Parkbus does not recommend visits to Tobermory on a day trip, as your time will be very limited, especially in case of delays.

You may want to plan accordingly by making a reservation at the campground ahead of time or finding accommodations nearby.

While many Parkbus routes are pet-friendly, like the one to Algonquin for an extra fee, this one, unfortunately, is not.

Parkbus also runs group hike events called ActiveDays, described as “a vibrant community of diverse nature lovers who adventure the wild woods of Ontario together.”

If you’re hoping to cross the famous Grotto off your summer bucket list, Parkbus is an easy and accessible way to do it.
