Hollywood North is back in full swing, and Bowen Yang is among the stars currently in the city for filming. Known for his roles in High Maintenance and The Outs on SNL, the Emmy-nominated actor and comedian has a penchant for all things T&T, it turns out, as he wasn’t shy with sharing his love for the supermarket chain this past weekend.

If it’s one thing we could say to Yang, it’s that he’s not alone in his love for T&T.

While the reason for the comedian’s visit may appear to be all fun and games, don’t be fooled. Yang is officially hard at work alongside the cast of The Wedding Banquet, a remake of the 1993 rom-com starring Winston Chao and May Chin.

The original film tells the story of a gay Taiwanese-American landlord who agrees to marry Wei-Wei, a tenant needing a green card, to satisfy his parents.

Its remake will reimagine the Oscar-nominated tale, and star Lily Gladstone (Killers of the Flower Moon, Certain Women), Kelly Marie Tran (Raya and the Last Dragon, Star Wars: Episodes IX and VIII), Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari, Youn’s Kitchen), and Joan Chen (The Last Emperor, Autumn in New York) alongside Bowen Yang.

According to Creative BC, The Wedding Banquet (dir. Andrew Ahn) is filming in Burnaby from Monday, May 27th to June 28th, though there’s a good chance production may take place elsewhere in Metro Vancouver as well, if past productions are any indication.

So there you have it, Vancouver! Stay tuned for more filming info as it comes.
