Toronto’s newest hidden bar feels like a living room with live music & epic food

Toronto has been waiting too long for a spot like this! Black Pearl is the city’s newest bar and live music venue with a laid-back vibe that’s unlike anything else you’ll find in the downtown core.

Black Pearl is the latest venture by Hanif Harji and Terry Tsianos of Scale Hospitality, the duo behind some of the city’s most buzzworthy restaurants, so you already know that you’re in for something special.

Marked by an unassuming red doorway around the corner from King St West, Black Pearl is like stepping into your coolest friend’s living room.

The venue has a refreshingly relaxed atmosphere, with a “street-cool-meets-designer-comfort” interior and an allover rock and roll vibe.

The space is outfitted with comfy seating for up to 160 guests and is large enough to accommodate a capacity of 600.

Six nights a week, the bar hosts live music acts and bands well into the evening, followed by a high-energy DJ set.

Be sure to stop by for old-school house and disco on SUPERFLY Wednesdays, retro hip-hop on JUMP AROUND Thursdays, and throwback rock, pop, and hip-hop on Fridays and Saturdays.

Plus, keep your eyes peeled for “surprise one-night-only events” featuring special talent and DJs.

You can also play a game of pool or post up in the green room in between songs, where you’ll find vinyl tables, an old-school record player, and a vintage 70s TV playing iconic VHS flicks.

In addition to deep craft whiskey, classic cocktails, and icy cold draft, Black Pearl also has a late-night food menu.

The highlights include delicious smash burgers, onion rings, fries with signature dips, salads, and New York-style pizza by the XL slice.

We’d be remiss not to mention the happy hour specials, which include house rail beer and wine drinks for $5 from 5 PM, $6 from 6 PM, and $7 from 7 to 8 PM Monday through Saturday.

Black Pearl is a throwback to simpler times and a place where you can come as you are. If that sounds like a good time to you, then you’re our kind of person!

When: Monday to Saturday, 5 PM to 2 AM
