From the Vancouver International Wine Festival to the Honda Celebration of Light, here are 15 of the biggest events and festivals to look forward to in Vancouver this year.

Dine Out Vancouver

It won’t be long before some of the best food in the city is brought right to your plate at Canada’s largest food & drink festival. From January 17th to February 4th, guests can immerse themselves in guided foraging excursions, interactive cooking classes, cocktail masterclasses, street food markets, and so much more.

Street Food City

If you love food truck eats, you’ve likely already heard about Street Food City, Vancouver’s original street food festival. The festival kicks off the delicious Dine Out Vancouver program. This year, they’re celebrating the festival’s 12th year with an amazing lineup of food trucks, serving everything from Indian food to grilled cheese.

Vancouver Hot Chocolate Festival 

While deets are still a bit scarce on their website, the beloved Vancouver Hot Chocolate fest is returning to the city this month, and we’re sure participating spots are bringing their A-game when it comes to crafting the best cups of cocoa around.

Winter Arts Festival

While the date of the next Vancouver Mural Festival is still TBA, the beloved Winter Arts Festival by the same organizers is well underway, with a variety of public art, live performances, pop-up dance parties, and much more to engage with over the course of five days.

Just For Laughs

Just For Laughs is Western Canada’s largest comedy festival, and every year, the organizers bring their A-game when it comes to creating the perfect lineup of talent. This year? They’ve gone above and beyond – casting everyone from Bill Burr to Ronny Chieng, to Bob the Drag Queen.

When: February 15th to 24th, 2024

HSBC Canada Sevens 

Rugby lovers, take note. Tournament passes for this year’s HSBC Canada Sevens event are currently on sale, so snag some before the craze begins. The 2024 tournament will mark the 9th time that the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series has visited Vancouver, with full men’s and women’s series tournaments running simultaneously.

Vancouver International Wine Festival

In just a few short months, the Vancouver International Wine Fest is returning to the city for its 45th installment. Running for an entire week this April and often attracting tens of thousands of visitors, the festival is easily one of the largest of its kind in Canada. It’s not without good reason, as it attracts producers from all over the world, both big and small.

This year’s festival will focus on winemakers from Italy, with 71 of the 149 participating wineries pouring delicious Italian wines from all over the countryside.

Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival

Stars on Ice

Stars on Ice is a thrilling and beautiful performance every year that it runs, and this year, there’s a star-studded cast of World Figure Skating Champions. This includes Canada’s own Piper Gilles and Paul Poirier, Madeline Schizas and Deanna Stellato-Dudek, and Maxime Deschamps.

Vancouver International Jazz Festival

While specific dates have not yet been confirmed for the Vancouver International Jazz Fest in 2024, the beloved celebration of jazz artists is underway nonetheless, now approaching its 37th year. Typically occurring every June or July, the festival is a great opportunity to enjoy both local and international talent. Venues across the city join in on the fun, including spots downtown, on Granville Island, and some of the city’s most notable venues.

Shambhala Music Festival

While not technically a Vancouver event, the Shambhala Music Festival in BC attracts thousands of visitors from the city and beyond every year, and is slated to take place from July 26th to 29th in 2024. Now in its 25th year, the festival is always headlined by some incredible EDM and house artists, so get ready for a high-energy lineup to drop.

Khatsahlano Street Festival

The Khatsahlano Street Party is a long-standing Vancouver tradition, bringing together the city’s best local artists, live entertainment, and street food for a massive summer celebration – all for free. This year? The festival is returning to West 4th Avenue with a bang this July.

Vancouver Folk Music Festival

The Vancouver Folk Music Festival is one of the most celebrated events of the summer, attracting more than 40,000 people to the beautiful Jericho Beach for a weekend of dancing, eating and vibing. There are also children’s activities available, which makes the event a huge draw for families as well.

Honda Celebration of Light 

It’s easily one of the most spectacular events in the city, and it’s back in Vancouver to light up the skies and delight spectators from all around. Fun fact: The Honda Celebration of Light is both BC’s largest live event and the longest-running offshore fireworks festival in the world. Since 1990, the event has hosted dozens of countries for international exhibitions and competitions.

Taylor Swift 

While this one might be a concert as opposed to an event or festival, there’s no denying that the Eras Tour is a ‘main event’ of 2024, so to speak. The Forbes’ Person of the Year herself will be in Vancouver from December 6th to 8th, with scoring tickets akin to winning the lottery. So if you do manage to score resale seats, consider yourself very lucky!
