If you’re always looking for the next exciting adventure or travel experience, you won’t have to look far this time. Time Out just dropped its 2023 list of the best things to do around the world, and we’ve got a fantastic local option on Vancouver Island to toss your way. But first, we’ll explain a bit more about the list.

From visiting the world’s largest music festivals to exploring the Croatian coast by train, there’s certainly no reason to be twiddling your thumbs this year. Time Out’s new global list dives into all things music, art, food, and nature – so get ready to book some trips.

As for us, we’re partial to exploring the natural landscape and wildlife at the Indigenous-run Tofino Wilderness Resort (ʕaḥuusʔatḥ haḥuułi, Quait Bay) – which sits at #13 on the list of the best things to do globally.

This year, the floating 16-room lodge is making a big shift. The resort will now direct all revenue towards local communities, which means a ton of new Indigenous-led experiences have been added to the retreat’s roster. In addition to floating amongst beautiful landscapes and marine life, guests now have the chance to go whale watching, wolf or bear-spotting, and learn the cultural practices of the Ahousaht people.

As for the other global experiences that made the list, you peruse them all on Time Out’s website.

That’s all for now, Vancouver. If you need us, we’ll be at this floating lodge on Vancouver Island.
