Another weekend has come and gone, and frankly, we’re running out of summer days in Edmonton! So, excuse us if we’re feeling a little more motivated than usual to make the most of each and every one. If you’re in the same boat, then we’ve got some great options for you.
Here are the best things to do in Edmonton this week.
2022 WORLD JUNIORS
After a cancellation in the winter, the World Juniors will be coming to Edmonton this week! See the best junior squads around the world go head to head in what is a left-field pick for summer sports, but nonetheless very exciting.
When: Starts Tuesday, August 9th
Where: Rogers Place, Edmonton
Cost: $40+
EDMONTON FRINGE FESTIVAL
For those looking for something a little more, let’s call it funky, you’ll feel right at home at the Edmonton Fringe Festival. Check out dozens of local and touring shows from all walks of the theatre and performance world.
When: Starts Thursday, August 11th
Where: Venues around Edmonton
Cost: $5+
THE GREAT OUTDOORS COMEDY FESTIVAL
Not a concert, well, not really, but still amazing! Some huge names in the comedy game are coming to Edmonton, including Tom Segura, Amy Schumer, and Nick Swardson.
When: Starts Friday, August 12th
Where: Edmonton Exhibition Lands
Cost: $59+
TELUS WORLD OF SCIENCE
There’s always something fun going on at the Telus World of Science, but we’ve got two things in mind here. First, their IMAX theatre is a great way to experience a classic movie, a new blockbuster, or a stunning documentary. Second, the Zeidler Dome has laser shows that are, frankly, out of this world.
When: Open throughout the week
Where: 11211 142 Street NW
Cost: $31.45 for GA
IMAGINE MONET
Where does the time go? After almost a full summer in the city, Imagine Monet will wrap up in just a few short weeks. Enjoy the works of one of the world’s best painters, in a level of detail that rivals actually, you know, booking a flight to France to see them in person.
When: Open throughout the week
Where: 7515 118 Avenue NW
Cost: $34.95+ for GA
U OF A BOTANIC GARDEN
In our opinion this is one of the best day trip options in the summer, full stop. Pair it with a picnic experience on Friday to make things extra special!
When: Open throughout the week
Where: 51227 AB-60, Parkland County
Cost: $19.75 for GA
HOP ON THE EDMONTON RIVERBOAT
One of the summer’s most beloved activities is back in action! The Edmonton Riverboat first set sail a couple of weeks ago, and we’ll be cruising into the fall.
When: Click the link above for next cruises
Where: 9734 98 Avenue NW
Cost: $27.95+
GET LOST AND FOUND IN A CORN MAZE
That’s right, the Edmonton Corn Maze is back for the season as well! Head down and quite literally lose yourself in acres upon acres of corn. Sounds like a Stephen King novel, but we assure you, it’s much more fun than that.
When: Open throughout the weekend
Where: 26171 Secondary Hwy 627, Spruce Grove
Cost: $12+ for GA
BITE INTO BURGERS
We’ve got a few guides that we’re going to use at least a few times ourselves before summer ends. First up is the classic lunch/road trip snack- the humble burger. Of course, Edmonton’s burger scene has a lot to brag about, from longtime favourites to gourmet options and new concepts.

SCOOP UP A LITTLE ICE CREAM
Ice cream is without a doubt the yin to the burger’s yang, and luckily Edmonton has no shortage of that, either. Best paired after a day trip or another outdoor activity, a trip for a delicious scoop of ice cream is something we can’t go without. Especially when somewhat healthier options (like plant-based) are available.
