10 of the best things to do in Edmonton this week (Aug. 29 – Sep. 2)

We keep thinking that the weather’s going to cool off in Edmonton, and we keep getting proven wrong! We’re in for yet another scorcher this week, which means getting outside, hanging out in some air conditioned spaces, and enjoying some treats to beat the heat.

Here are the best things to do in Edmonton this week.

MOVIES ON THE SQUARE

A little outdoor movie action sounds like a great family friendly pick. It’s a good week for it too, with Labyrinth in the lineup this go around.

When: Wednesday, August 30th
Where: Sir Winston Churchill Square
Cost: FREE

DIRTY HONEY

Much like Greta Van Fleet this past weekend, Dirty Honey is a great evolution of classic American hard rock, and their explosion in popularity proves it’s long overdue!

When: Friday, September 2nd
Where: 10030 102 Street
Cost: $27.50+

HAVE SOME FUN IN THE SUN

Sunflowers, that is! The Sunflower Maze at the Edmonton Corn Maze is now open, and is a great option for getting out and about after work this week.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 26171 Secondary Hwy 627, Spruce Grove
Cost: $14+

DOUBLE DOWN ON LOCAL ATTRACTIONS

TELUS World of Science and Fort Edmonton Park have teamed up to offer a 2 for 1 deal on general admissions, but you’re running out of time to take advantage of it!

When: Now until September 5th
Where: 11211 142 Street NW and 7000 143 Street NW
Cost: Varies, check Fort Edmonton Park and TELUS World of Science websites for more info

WORLD DODGEBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

If you can dodge a wrench… you can watch the World Dodgeball Championships! This weird (but completely legit) event is coming to Edmonton this week, and we think it’ll be well worth the price of admission to check out.

When: Starts Wednesday, August 31st
Where: 11610 65 Avenue NW
Cost: $10+

HOP ON THE EDMONTON RIVERBOAT

One of the summer’s most beloved activities is back in action! The Edmonton Riverboat first set sail a few weeks ago, and will be cruising into the fall.

When: Click the link above for next cruises
Where: 9734 98 Avenue NW
Cost: $27.95+

STREET CAR CASK PARTY

Speaking of off-the-beaten-path transportation ideas… The Common’s Street Car Cask Parties are back, and will be on practically all summer long! Enjoy some unique brews, eat some treats, then return to The Common itself for a little live music!

When: Thursday, September 1st
Where: 10910 100 Avenue NW
Cost: $53.50+

TAKE SOME PALS TO THE PATIO

Whether it’s weekend brunch, an afternoon snack, or a full blown multi-course meal, Edmonton has an amazing variety of patios to check out this summer. And with our list, you’ll be the go-to friend for picking!
