We always love seeing a new list of the best places to live in Canada, because based on what you’re after, you could pick just about anywhere. And, the one we’re focusing on today stands in testament to that, foregoing the country’s biggest cities for places that we’ve more or less never heard of before. Let’s check it out!

The list, from Moving Waldo, focuses on 3 main criteria for determining the rankings. First up is safety (based on the crime rate), then there’s affordability, and finally, access to recreational facilities and parks. So, if you’re looking for a big city with tons of diversity and museums/galleries, then this probably isn’t the list for you.

Anyway, based on those three criteria, here’s what Moving Waldo found to be the best places to live in Canada right now:

  1. Deep River, Ontario
  2. Levis, Quebec
  3. Trenton, Nova Scotia
  4. Wellington County, Ontario
  5. Quebec City, Quebec
  6. Saguenay, Ontario
  7. Barrie, Ontario
  8. Thetford Mines, Quebec
  9. Edmundston, New Brunswick
  10. High River, Alberta

Yeah… outside of Quebec City, this no major option this list, opting more for serene settings that are close, but not that close, to the big names. But hey, if you wanted to save a few hundred bucks a month on rent, or a few hundred thousand on a house, while still being close to nature, this could be the list for you.
