The year is nearing its end, and as we look ahead into 2026, our sights are set on travelling abroad. But maybe we don’t have to go too far to enjoy some of the best places in the world. Conde Nast Traveler has unveiled its list of The Best Places to Go in 2026, and amongst its global inclusions is one Canadian destination.
If we’re lucky, some of us will get the chance to explore all the wonders of the world. For us on the Western side of things, seeing what’s over the Atlantic Ocean is pretty enticing. But unfortunately, not everyone will have the opportunity to enjoy what places like Spain, France, and Germany can offer.
Don’t let that bring you down, though — Canada is home to some of the most beautiful, natural landscapes in the world, full of wonder and delicious finds.
And that’s why Conde Nast Traveler added Prince Edward County to its list. “When it comes to Prince Edward County, 2026 is when the world will catch up on what Canadians have known for years,” shares the list. It suggests visiting this Ontario region if you’re looking for “a newer wine region with an old soul.”
For us who have had the pleasure of exploring the wine region, for lack of a better saying, we know what’s up.
It’s not too far from Toronto, and just a short drive away from Kingston, Ont. It’s home to boutique hotels, small wineries, and our favourite restaurants — and it’s still growing.
There are three main historic towns in the county worth visiting: Wellington, Bloomfield, and Picton.
These towns are fairly close to each other and are easy to navigate. Each boasts a vibrant main street with artisan shops, boutiques, restaurants, inns, and cafes. Looking into next summer? Pay Sandbanks Provincial Park a visit and enjoy a day at the beach.
One of the beloved hotels in this area is not just well-known locally, but also recognized globally. The Drake Devonshire has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveller U.K., making its annual Readers’ Choice Awards, and is in the Michelin Guide‘s “Nine Boutique Hotels to Know in Ontario.”
For those unfamiliar with the region, we’ve even shared how to spend a weekend in good old PEC.
It’s fair to say Prince Edward County is an all-season destination.
So, in 2026, if you’re looking for something thrilling yet not too out of budget, come on over to Ontario.
We’re not the only ones who think this region is a gem worth exploring.
