Calling all foodies & new restaurant enthusiasts. Air Canada’s enRoute has released its top 10 list of Canada’s Best New Restaurants, and there’s one BC gem that made the cut.

Fox & Monocle Cafe in North Saanich ranked #9 on the list, thanks to the culinary talents of Chef Ross Bowles and Pastry Chef Tracie Zahavich, both of whom have worked at different Michelin-awarded restaurants across the globe. According to Air Canada, they currently serve up everything from cod and potato pithivier (pie pastry) to BC spot prawns.

A bakery by day and a restaurant by night, Fox & Monocle is the perfect spot to hit up in the morning before a full day of exploring the Island. And end the night off with a decadent meal, of course.

According to the release, award-winning journalist Nancy Matsumoto trekked across the country for a month & dined anonymously at more than 30 spots before selecting the top 10.

Matsumoto looked at everything from the culinary vision to the quality of ingredients used. Ultimately, though, “it all came down to one meal.”
