This beloved Toronto market is ranked one of the best in the world

Among all the food markets in the world, the beloved Toronto foodie destination, St Lawrence Market just so happens to be one of the best – or so National Geographic happens to think so.

In a list by the publisher, it highlighted 10 open-air markets, food halls, and bazaars that truly capture the culture and essence of their home cities. Out of all the locations around the world that they could have chosen, our beloved food market made the top 10.

And it happened to be the only Canadian food market to make the list. It stands alongside others in Japan, Mexico, Turkey, St. Lucia, and more.

National Geographic shared details of the historic food market and its tradition of the Saturday Farmers’ Markets which dates back to 1803. It also shouts out its 120 different food and craft vendors where you can stock up on almost all the foodie essentials.

“Save room for a peameal bacon sandwich, a local specialty,” said the publisher. And we agree!
