Lake towns aren’t just a joy in the summer season, it’s also an adventure in the fall! When the leaves change colour, Ontario becomes a giant playground with limitless places to explore. That being said, we’ve compiled a list of the most beautiful lake towns to visit in Ontario this fall and they’re a must.

Ontario is full of gorgeous lake towns that offer a peaceful escape from busy city life.

Bala, Ontario

In the heart of cottage country, you’ll find this adorable rural township in the Muskoka Lakes region. It’s THE place to visit this fall!

In addition to the picturesque Bala Falls, Bala is a growing town with brand-new stores and great restaurants.

It’s surrounded by pristine forests and calm lake waters.

Bayfield, Ontario 

Bayfield is located in southwestern Ontario right on Lake Huron.

This village is a popular destination for beach days and even has a drive-in theatre you can bring your car to!

Soak up the sun and stay awhile.

Gananoque, Ontario

Gananoque is “internationally recognized as one of Eastern Ontario’s most stunning waterfront communities,” according to its website.

It is the gateway to the 1,000 Islands and sits on the beautiful St. Lawrence River.

There are plenty of activities to enjoy on the water in Gananoque, as well as a variety of spas, shops, restaurants, and quaint hotels.

Goderich, Ontario

Not only was this coastal town once named the “prettiest” in Canada by British royalty, it also has connections to Walt Disney.

The town is home to three turquoise-blue beaches and a very charming historic downtown. It is situated on bluffs with a gorgeous view of Lake Huron.

Whether you’re eager to visit Goderich this fall for its natural beauty, charming downtown or its Disney background, you’re surely in for a fun time.

Paris, Ontario

Paris sits at the junction of the Grand and Nith Rivers, and it’s located just 30 minutes west of Hamilton.

This day trip stop is filled with stone buildings and lovely homes on the water – it might be the closest thing that Ontario has to European charm.

That’s in addition to all the other kinds of attractions, including historic sites, waterfalls, and fun events at the Paris Fairground.

Port Stanley, Ontario

Located on the stunning waters of Lake Erie, Port Stanley is a quaint beach town with a gorgeous beach that is picturesque in the fall.

The town is also known for its award-winning dining, events, entertainment, and an impressive selection of shops.

Tobermory, Ontario

Tobermory is a “harbour town” and has some of the most breathtaking views in the province! Fall foliage encapsulates the region and it’s a sight to see.

Surrounded by crystal-clear water, be sure to check out The Grotto while you visit, located at Bruce Peninsula National Park. 

Wellington, Ontario 

Wellington describes itself as “a place you’ll never want to leave,” so it sounds like a good place to road trip to this fall!

From Wellington Beach to the handful of wineries (Sandbanks Estate Winery, Karlo Estates Winery and Casa-Dea Estates Winery just to name a few) you’re sure to have a wonderful time.
