Well, job seekers, the coveted list of BC’s Top Employers is officially out for 2024, and “no one is resting on their laurels” this year.

Now in its 19th year, BC’s Top Employers by the Vancouver Sun and Mediacorp Canada Inc. recognizes organizations that offer employees “exceptional human resource programs,” according to the report.

Employers across the province are graded on the same eight criteria as the national competition (Canada’s Top 100 Employers):

  • Physical Workplace
  • Work Atmosphere & Social
  • Health, Financial & Family Benefits
  • Vacation & Time Off
  • Employee Communications
  • Performance Management
  • Training & Skills Development
  • Community Involvement

According to Mediacorp Canada, this year’s winners cover a range of diverse industries, from software engineering to the public sector.

Among the winners are companies and organizations that are purpose-driven, using innovative programs to make a lasting local impact. The report stresses that job seekers are looking for employers who make a meaningful difference in their communities, which is why employers who put the needs of their employees first find the most success.

“Engaging your people in meaningful ways and respecting their needs beyond just the paycheque is key to running a successful organization,” says Richard Yerema, executive editor at Canada’s Top 100 Employers. “Caring for your people isn’t counter to running a successful organization, it’s key.”
