Here’s everything you can do now that BC has lifted some restrictions

If you didn’t catch the first announcement, then you should probably know that as of today, BC has lifted quite a few restrictions related to the pandemic. So, let’s do a quick recap of all the options that have come back!

First up- gatherings. All restrictions have been lifted on ‘personal gatherings’ like dinner parties and birthdays, both inside and out. Meanwhile, all capacity restrictions have been lifted on ‘organized gatherings and events’ (concerts, sports events, and so on), and dancing is allowed, but proof of vaccination and masks are still required.

Full capacity is also back for exercise activities. This includes both individual and group activities, ranging from gyms returning to full capacity to dance/exercise classes to swimming pools. The same applies to sports activities, but both will still require proof of vaccination and masks when not exercising. Masks while exercising are still strongly encouraged.

Restaurants, bars, pubs and nightclubs are also mostly back to normal. There are no capacity restrictions or table limits, dancing and mingling is allowed, and regular hours are back. Like with the above changes, proof of vaccination and masks are still required.

Finally, guidance has changed for long-term care and seniors’ assisted living facilities. Now, long term care residents can have 1 ‘social’ and 1 ‘essential’ visitor, while all visitors are allowed at seniors’ assisted living facilities. What’s more, large gatherings are back, with staff and residents allowed for indoor and no restrictions on outdoor.

So, that’s that! If you’re looking for additional information about the province’s guidance and updates, head to the Government of BC website.
