Being a parent requires you to make a string of decisions on someone else’s behalf. Some, of course, are bigger than others, but few will stick with you quite like giving your newborn a moniker. While many settle on something unique, most opt for a more traditional name, but what rose to the top of the bunch over the last few months?

Thanks to popular parenting site, Baby Centre, we’ve got answers – so place your bets and take some notes. Here’s what they found were the most popular baby names in Canada for 2022.

Broken into two groups, Noah (in the boy’s category) and Olivia (in the girl’s category) ranked first overall, with Olivia climbing 3 spots since last year.

Now it’s important to note that Baby Centre didn’t share its methodology – but it’s interesting to see what they claim are Canadian favourites.

At the end of the day – the decision is still yours to make, and whatever you choose is going to be great.

Names are not one size fits all and some change over time. What’s trendy now, might be unusual later and what’s deemed out-of-the-box, could make a comeback. It’s everchanging!

Of course, we want to hear what you think, Canada! Is your name on this list? Let us know!
