Do you hear that? The tropics are calling! If you’ve been planning a getaway trip down to the Caribbean, you’re in luck. Toronto’s getting a new airline with direct flights to the Dominican Republic and base prices start at $86 USD for a short time. Here’s what to know about Arajet in Toronto.

Low-cost Caribbean airline Arajet announced on Monday that it will begin to fly out from Toronto to Santo Domingo, D.R. beginning in October.

Flights will be available four times throughout the week, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays, with different hours.

Base fares start as low as $86 USD until July 13th, 2023 and it does not include taxes or added fees.

Depending on the time that you go, you could find round-trip flights as low as US$ 319.85. For a checked-in bag you’d need to pay an additional $45, according to its site.

Toronto is now one of 17 cities to join its operations with direct flights, alongside Mexico, Peru, Colombia, and El Salvador.

Since launching in 2022, Arajet is the only airline in the region to have started operations with completely new and ultra-efficient aircraft, according to the Dominican Republic-based carrier.
