A popular Louisville-based craft whiskey is now available in Canada & here’s why you need to try it

Our perpetual evening forecast from now on will be – 43.3% Bourbon. Because Angel’s Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels is now available across Canada.

After the immense success of its initial limited release, the Kentucky Straight Bourbon has finally arrived up North by popular demand. And we, for one, are thrilled!

Ever since its release, the Bourbon finished in Port Barrels has been making waves among whiskey aficionados and newbies for its complex flavour profile. Interestingly, this flavour profile is a result of an innovative approach to the whiskey-making process, aka, the secondary finish.

So, after aging the bourbon in the traditional new white oak barrels for four to six years. It is then aged in port barrels from Portugal for another six months, then blended again in batches of 8 to 12 barrels at a time to perfect the taste. This second finish is what enhances the rich notes of the Bourbon. And it is this second finish that earned Angel’s Envy Bourbon Finished in Port Barrels several awards and resulted in them becoming the #1 Ultra Premium Bourbon offering in the US* based on 750mL bottles.

For those less familiar with the brand, Angel’s Envy is relatively new in the whiskey market having launched its first batch in 2011. The brains behind the brand, however, are anything but new.

The Louisville-based craft distillery was co-founded by Master Distiller Lincoln Henderson and his son, Wes Henderson. And it was the former who led to Angel’s Envy becoming a pioneer of secondary finish bourbon across America.

Back to this award-winning Bourbon— the copper-toned whiskey will give you whiffs of vanilla, raisins, maple syrup and toasted nuts. On the palate, expect hints of vanilla, ripe fruit, maple syrup, toast and bitter chocolate.

At 86.6 proof, it’s delicious to be sipped neat and robust and flavourful enough to be mixed into cocktails.

Basically, the bourbon is going to take your evening drinks up a few notches.
