Ready to chase some waterfalls? The beautiful Ammonite Falls Regional Trail in Nanaimo is definitely worth visiting, especially if you’re craving some quality time in the forest beforehand.
Surrounded by towering Firs, this scenic route happens to lead to the famed Benson Creek Falls Regional Park, which is home to not one, but two breathtaking waterfalls.
According to the Regional District of Nanaimo, the massive 32-hectare park is characterized by its rushing creeks, deep ravines, and mossy woods, but it’s definitely Benson/Ammonite Falls and Flynnfall Creek that steal the show.

Most of the trail has minimal elevation change, but the final section to the waterfall can be steep and more difficult, though Outdoor Vancouver says there are ropes in place to assist hikers on that front.
The hike to the park is ranked as moderate and is open year-round. Note that the waterfalls are best viewed after periods of rain, so prepare for muddy conditions!
As for Benson Creek, the regional park is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day from November 1st to March 1st.
