Toronto is officially back to its old self and offices are bustling with life again, including Amazon’s new multi-level tech hub in the heart of downtown. The new Amazon office in Toronto occupies eight floors in a high-rise across the street from Scotiabank Arena, with three more to come next year.
The new 130,000-square-foot space is the third Amazon corporate office in the city and is every bit as modern and innovative as you’d expect.
Floor-to-ceiling windows provide breathtaking views of the skyline in all directions and there are ample cozy seating options to choose from to enjoy the natural light and scenery.
And you won’t have to deal with the sun in your eyes, either. The office is equipped with an automatic shade system, which uses a roof-mounted sensor to recalculate and automatically raise or lower blinds every 15 minutes according to external sunlight levels, cloud cover, reflections from surrounding structures, date, and time, and group or floor conditions.
Amazon has prioritized comfort with its new tech hub. It features an open layout with flexible desk arrangements and a variety of seating options, so you can pick up and move to any corner of the space if you like to mix things up.
Plus, the company is still operating on a hybrid model, allowing individual teams to come up with their own schedule of remote and in-office working days.
The office is also part of the Southcore Financial Centre (SFC), which features an urban park on the second floor, a fitness centre, and urban forests with bee hives to nurture Toronto’s honey bee population.
Amazon’s footprint has exploded in Toronto in recent years. The company had just 50 Toronto-based corporate and tech employees in 2015 — today, there are over 2,000 with hundreds of open jobs available which you can browse and apply for here.
The teams you could work for include AWS, Alexa, Amazon Advertising, Prime Video, Amazon Music, and Retail and Operations Technology, all of which are based at the company’s offices in the city.
