Just when we thought we were leaving bizarre crimes in 2020, the new year has brought us a gem. This week in Mississauga a would-be thief was caught red-handed after attempting to steal a package from a house porch. But here’s the kicker – his car got stuck in a snowbank so he couldn’t flee the scene.
Yep, you can watch the whole thing in a video that was posted to Reddit yesterday. In the video, you see the madman run from the porch, get into his car, and promptly drive right into the snowbank. In true Canadian fashion, the person behind the camera eventually offered in a shovel to help him dig his car out.

Of course, the police eventually did show up and the man was arrested. But before that, there’s about three minutes’ worth of footage of the car’s front tires spinning uselessly, the man desperately trying to dig his car out, and commentary by the person behind the camera. We’d almost feel bad for the guy if he hadn’t just been caught trying to swipe someone else’s Amazon package.
He was, however, wearing a mask. So at least his illegal activities are being committed with COVID-19 safety in mind.
