Attention, travellers! Air Canada and United Airlines just announced the addition of over 260 daily flights and two new routes between Canada and the US for summer 2023. So if you’re ready to jump into trip-planning mode, this is for you.
New service to Washington DC
Non-stop service between Vancouver and Washington-Dulles will commence on June 1st, operated by Air Canada. Likewise, non-stop service between Calgary and Washinton-Dulles will begin on June 2nd, courtesy of United. So no matter which city you’re travelling from, we think a trip to DC this summer is definitely in order.
“This summer, customers will have even greater choice and convenience with our joint summer schedule made possible by our airlines’ new enhanced transborder agreement. Together we will offer more than 260 daily departures to the U.S, and new non-stop flights from Vancouver and Calgary to Washington-Dulles,” said Mark Galardo, Senior Vice President of Network Planning and Revenue Management at Air Canada.
“Our coordinated schedules will provide business travellers with the convenience of hourly service and the additional comfort of a business cabin on all flights between Toronto and New York and Chicago, as well as Vancouver and San Francisco.”
Note that Air Canada and United will codeshare on these flights, which means Aeroplan or MileagePlus® members can accumulate and redeem miles.
New service between the U.S. and Western Canada
The airlines’ summer schedule will also add increased service between the U.S. and Western Canada, including the following:
- Nine daily flights from Vancouver to New York/Newark, Houston, and Chicago.
- Seven daily flights between Vancouver and L.A.
- A second daily flight from Edmonton to Denver
- A second daily flight from Calgary to both Chicago and Houston
New shuttle service
According to the release, both carriers will offer hourly shuttle-style service throughout the day between key Air Canada and United hubs.
Both airlines will offer 29 daily flights with complementary timings between Toronto and New York/Newark and Chicago, and 11 daily flights between Vancouver and San Francisco.
So, make note of these new flights and get excited for a summer of travel!
