These new Toronto restaurants were just named the best in Canada

The annual Best New Restaurants list by Air Canada has been announced and 30 wonderful establishments in 18 cities were unveiled -six of these are in Toronto. We’re not surprised at all by these nominees. Here’s what to know.

From coast to coast, Air Canada’s Best New Restaurants list embraces new culinary talent, highlighting their accomplishments every year since 2002.

It’s actually the longest-running Canadian restaurant ranking. So they definitely know their stuff.

Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Montreal and Toronto are just a few of the cities with restaurants that snagged a spot within the longlist.

“We’re thrilled to shine a light on Canada’s emerging culinary talent through Air Canada’s annual Best New Restaurants list,” said Andy Shibata, Vice President, Brand, Air Canada.

“Food is an important part of culture and heritage, and by sharing the very best of Canada’s creative culinary scene, we hope to inspire people to seek out great food experiences across our country. In doing so, we are proud to celebrate the best of Canadian talent and support the vitality of Canada’s restaurant and hospitality sector.”

That being said, here are Air Canada’s best new restaurants for 2024:

  • Bar Prima – 1136 Queen St W
  • Conejo Negro – 838 College St
  • Contrada – 537 College St
  • Martine’s Wine Bar – 293 Palmerston Ave
  • Mhel – 276 Havelock St
  • Takja BBQ House – 962 College St

Fun fact! According to Air Canada, its beloved list is the “only cross-country restaurant ranking to use a single, anonymous reviewer who sets out to dine across Canada.” How cool is that?

“Based on the recommendations of a coast-to-coast panel of food experts, Air Canada sends one undercover writer on a month-long culinary marathon to sample the offerings from notable openings across the country, all of which are now contenders for the coveted Top 10 list,” shares representatives of the list.

And talking about that top 10 list, the winners will be unveiled in Toronto on November 4th, 2024 so keep an eye out for that!

Congrats to all the winners!
