Calling all singers, dancers, comedians, circus performers and magicians! After a 9-year hiatus, world-famous panel villain and entertainment mogul, Simon Cowell and CityTV have confirmed that they will be bringing back the 2000’s variety show Canada’s Got Talent for a new season with production beginning this fall.

In a press release sent out by Rogers, the media company announced that in addition to the Bachelor franchise, Hudson & Rex, and OMNI Television’s Blood and Water, Canada’s Got Talent will appear on City’s 2022 lineup.

“Canada has an abundance of incredible talent in front of and behind the camera and we can’t wait to bring more unique Canadian stories to our audiences that not only entertain but also reflect and resonate with our communities across the country,” said Nataline Rodrigues, Director of Original Programming at Citytv.

“Whether it’s drama, reality, or a mix of both, our new Canadian series offers something for everyone.”

As you may or may not remember, CGT was taken off the air after only one season in 2012, which is pretty surprising considering the franchise actually holds the record for most successful reality TV format. The irony.

Celebrating homegrown hopefuls from all over the country, this new season will begin auditioning people later this year and will premiere next spring with 9 episodes – so start working on your acts, Canada!

Hopefully this time around they have more support behind the show. Here’s to a second season of the second version of Canada’s Got Talent. Good luck, friends!
