Summer just doesn’t feel the same without live music. Luckily, after having been cancelled last year due to COVID, one highly anticipated event will return in 2021! Make sure the insides of your ears are squeaky clean, YYC because the Calgary Folk Festival has announced that they’ll be back in Prince’s Island Park this July and tickets go on sale this week!

Of course, because we’re in between normals right now, things will look a little bit different than years past but it’s definitely still going to be something worth looking forward to!

This time around, instead of having multiple stages, organizers have reimagined the event to fit an intimate (but distant) concert setting, though they will still feature various artists.

The series aptly named CFMF Summer Serenades will showcase 36 Canadian artists who will take the stage between July 22nd to the 28th. These artists include Shad, Hawksley Workman, the Cowboy Junkies, Tara Lightfoot, and Dan Mangan just to name a few, but if you’d like to see the entire lineup you can check out their website here.

In addition to changing the format of this year’s festival, other safety protocols such as masks, seating zones and visual markets will also be in effect.

If, even after the changes, you’re still interested in checking it out don’t hesitate because only around 1,200 adults and 600 children will be able to attend due to the 15% capacity limitations recommended by health officials.

Honestly, though – this is still one of the best and most exciting things to be announced since the Calgary Stampede and we cannot wait.

We hope to see you out there, Calgary!
