A quick look at Ryerson University’s snazzy new vertical building

Ryerson University is sporting a snazzy new building on their downtown campus. The Daphne Cockwell Health Sciences Complex is the latest addition to the Toronto school. It’s an impressive mixed-use and multifunctional hub that is revolutionizing the student experience. So let’s take a peek at it, shall we?

The building stands at a whopping 29 storeys high. Within that space, it has 8 floors of academic and classroom areas. There are also 18 floors dedicated to student residences. All-in-all, the complex brings together 300,000 square feet of highly-sustainable teaching, research, and living space. Not too shabby, eh?

In fact, the whole premise behind the building is essentially taking a university campus and making it vertical. Instead of walking across the quad to go from class to class, you just need to hop on the elevator. The design is perfect for Ryerson University’s downtown core location.

Within the actual building, there is a ton going on. The functional academic programming covers everything from their Daphne Cockwell School of Nursing to their Creative Technology Lab, to their Urban Farm Office, and more.

The building’s sleek and modern design provides an optimal learning environment. Of course, it helps that it’s easy on the eyes as well.
