Thinking that December is the perfect month to splurge on a treat yourself meal? You’ll be happy to know that you’ll have another option for exactly that. A new Italian-inspired restaurant, Carlino, will be opening in the Shangri-La on December 1st. Here’s what to know about it!

Focusing on Friulian cuisine, with inspiration from Trentino and Veneto as well. In addition to family ties (Carlino was the name of a partner’s grandfather), the northern region shares similarities with BC- coastal, but rugged and with mountains as well.

Using local, fresh ingredients, the menu at Carlino will offer everything from classic Italian snacks to lesser-known dishes, like a Friulian version of goulash and a pierogi-like potato dumpling called Cjarsons. It tracks, since the Italian region borders Slovakia, Croatia and Austria.

Pair that with a great drinks list and a formidable tasting menu for those big nights out, and Carlino is a must for anyone looking to go all out on their next meal. This new spot opens this Wednesday, so keep it in mind during the holiday season!
