Toronto’s new oasis with ice baths, a 50-person sauna & social events is now open

If you’re looking to improve your self-care routine and make some new friends while you’re at it, this new retreat is the place to do it. Now open in Toronto, Othership occupies a massive space in the heart of downtown and offers a chance for you to connect with yourself and others through relaxing rituals.

Othership is “a one-of-a-kind oasis in the city built for social connection and transformative experiences through a sauna and ice bath circuit,” the description says.

The ice bath will allow you to “redefine your relationship to the cold” by enhancing your focus and the power of your breat. The sauna promotes “deep body and brain connection,” as well as stress relief.

The sauna is big enough to fit 50 people and will host “unique guided programming that will spark insight and keep your inner flame burning bright.” You’ll likely meet some pretty interesting people here too.

In between ice baths and sauna sessions, you can connect with others around the fireplace in the tea room and rehydrate with a tasty drink.

There are three types of experiences to sign up for at Othership — a 60-minute class that guides you through the process, a 75-minute self-guided Free Flow session, and a 120-minute evening social.

The evening socials feature “louder music and guided conversations to facilitate sharing, expression and even fear or trauma release,” according to Othership.

“People are tired of going to a bar or restaurant in order to have a social night out. There needs to be another way; people want to reconnect with themselves, relax, drop their shoulders and feel safe,” said Amanda Laine, co-founder and lead facilitator in a press release.

“We envision Othership as a way to socialize without the distractions of technology, and reap all the many health benefits of these practices along the way.”

There are several new spas and wellness spaces to try out in the Toronto area in 2022.

A massive Finnish-inspired spa just opened north of the city and it has one of the largest authentic woodburning saunas in North America. In the spring, Whitby’s highly-anticipated Nordic spa village is finally set to open its doors.

You can get a special intro deal on your first visit to Othership for just $25, or $99 for your first three visits.
