Well, folks, 2021 is certainly off to an interesting start. Especially here in our own state because a new bill has been proposed to split Washington. Yes, you read that right, split the state into two states. And get this, the 51st state would be named ‘Liberty’.
The 51st state would border the Cascade Mountain range and Okanogan, Chelan, Kittitas, Yakima, and Kittitas Counties. And this would leave the state more or less split into 2/3. So you can think of the divided states as the cities versus Washington’s farmland. To be honest we’re not even sure how this managed to become a bill.

The bill, which is House Bill 1239, is sponsored by Rob Chase and Bob McCaslin. And if you’re wondering, both are Republican congressmen from the Spokane area. So we’ll hold our breath for the United States 51st state. But after last year, we also honestly wouldn’t be surprised if something insane like this was passed.
