Serving vegan Thai food made with love, Calgary-based company Hearts Choices would have been nothing if it weren’t for owner and operator, Nan, who sadly passed away on Monday. This weekend, in celebration of her life, the eatery will be holding a fundraiser in support of her two favourite charities and nothing could be sweeter.

Known for her generous spirit and advocacy, Tippawadi “Nan” Thammanaty opened the popular company 11 years ago with an appreciation for animals and contagious positivity.

“Nan put her absolute heart and soul into cooking vegan food,” the company wrote in a statement. “She was a truly special, one-of-a-kind person.  She lived her life without fear, and with boundless kindness and compassion that was infectious. Her passion for food, love for life and genuine sweetness always had people falling in love with her.”

It’s this love that inspired Hearts Choices to offer 15% off their entire menu at both their cafe and Market as well as their kiosk at the Calgary Farmer’s Market, the business’s original location.

The hope is that with the money each customer saves, a donation will be made to Calgary’s Alice Sanctuary or AARCS, two charities that Hearts Choices said: “reflects the values of compassion, selflessness and charity that Nan has always loved and supported.”

Donations will be accepted at these locations and will go towards helping treat, care and find forever homes for animals in need between today, and Sunday, February 6th – so consider stopping by.
