Heading to the mountains this weekend? Bundle up, be safe and don’t leave without a set of good tires on your vehicle because a winter storm warning has been issued for parts of western Alberta – and among the ones to watch? Jasper and Banff, whose weather will be more ‘chilly apocalypse,’ than ‘winter wonderland.’

As announced by Environment Canada, up to 25 centimetres of snow was expected to fall in the area before Friday morning with another 10 cm expected today. But that’s not all.

In addition to the snow, strong winds up to 70 km/h are expected to blow through the Rockies, which as most of you already know, is a recipe for terrible driving conditions.

According to EC, Highway 93, Jasper to Saskatchewan River Crossing and Lake Louise to Saskatchewan River Crossing will see the worst of it – so please, if you must pass through the area drive slow and go prepared.
