There have been a few ways to watch the Nutcracker this holiday season. And as much as we love the classic ballet version sometimes we all need to switch it up a bit. That’s why Land of the Sweets: The Burlesque Nutcracker is a great performance to add to your list of holiday events.

Lily Verlaine and Jasper McCann have been producing this show in Seattle for 14 years making it a beloved classic in its own right. The show is refined and stunning, with professional dancers performing Verlaine’s choreography. You can expect to see a blend of classical techniques with burlesque for an end result that is beautiful, funny, and certainly unique.

You’ll see the return of favorite characters from the story like Babette La Fave, the Snowflakes, and Lily Verlaine’s Baroness of Bon-Bons (the Sugar Plum Fairy). Accompanying these lively characters is a live nine-piece jazz orchestra, performing renditions of the Tchaikovsky score. To top it all off you’ll be wowed by stunning scenic pieces, opulent bespoke costuming, and of course, the original choreography and talent of the dancers.

The performance is taking place at the Triple Door throughout December but keep in mind, guests need to be 17+ in order to attend and some shows are 21+. So find your perfect day to attend and gather your friends for what is sure to be one of the best holiday performances of the year.
