No, this isn’t a scene from a movie. A small aircraft had to touch down on Highway 407 just outside of Toronto on Wednesday morning and it was no doubt a shock for the drivers who witnessed it.

The propeller plane reportedly had two passengers at the time, reports CP24. York Regional Police told the outlet that the plane attempted to take off from the nearby Buttonville Airport but quickly went down for an emergency landing on the highway in Markham due to mechanical issues.

The highway confirmed on Twitter that the plane landed safely, but three lanes were blocked as police cleared the scene. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

One video of the incident was shared by a driver and from the sounds of it, they weren’t impressed by the situation.

Believe it or not, this isn’t the first time this has happened. A similar event made international headlines in Quebec back in April 2021. In August 2020, another plane narrowly missed Toronto’s Highway 404 while making an emergency landing.

Given how many times it has happened, it’s amazing that everyone involved escaped without injuries, but we wouldn’t be surprised if they were left feeling pretty shaken up afterwards.
