What’s up, plant-based pals? In Calgary, a restaurant with a couple of good vegan options isn’t too difficult to come by. Unfortunately, when a special occasion rolls around, finding a sweet spot that will get you into the celebratory mood tends to be a toughie. We’ve put together a list of places baking and making the best vegan desserts in Calgary, so whether it’s a birthday, an anniversary, or a late-night craving, you can get your ‘ssert on!
MADE BY MARCUS
Made by Marcus is a Calgary favourite that doesn’t exclude anyone. Those with everything from a dietary restriction, severe allergy, or preference can enjoy a hefty scoop of the good stuff. They’ve got not one, not two or three, but four vegan ice cream options ranging from chocolate fudge brownie or salted caramel date. We’re not vegan, but we order the heck out of chocolate fudge brownie. It’s too good.

RE:GRUB
Vegan milkshakes? Hell yeah! In addition to their plant-based burgers, Re:grub also has a solid vegan shake selection. Tasty flavours include the Cheeseshake, which is even topped with a slice of vegan cheesecake. Then, there’s their Krusty the Shake, which is a cotton candy coloured concoction topped with a bubble gum cookie sandwich and cotton candy. They didn’t have to go so hard for us, but they did.

Veg-In YYC has gluten-free, dairy-free Indian food, and some of the most decadent vegan desserts in Calgary. Their vegan cakes are honestly kind of the star of their entire menu in our opinion. They’ve got flavours ranging from the classics (like red velvet) to the experimental (like gingerbread lemon), and they’re all absolutely delish.

Hoopla Donuts has a ton of options, a few of which are also vegan! You haven’t actually lived until you’ve had their maple glazed, guys. It’s top-notch. They also have a few different Calgary locations, so there’s no need to drive too far to get a fix.

Lakeview Bakery has everything, including our personal favourite, vegan cinnamon rolls. They’ve also got vegan macaroons, cakes, cookies, and cupcakes. That list should do the trick, hey?
