Well, YYC, after months of cryptic posts we’ve finally got some deets on Calgary’s new spot, Dark Arts, an interim gallery/cocktail bar hybrid that actually has nothing to do with witchcraft or wizardry (though the name would suggest otherwise.)

According to a recent press release, instead of floor-length robes, sleek bobs and sinister British accents, Calgarians will get to enjoy local art, drinks and finger foods in a contemporary, cool atmosphere.

“Take the artistry feel of San Francisco mixed with amazing cocktails from New York, in an LA-style venue and you have The Dark Arts,” said GM of The Dark Arts, Dallas Tambeau.

Now, for those Racking their brain trying to figure out what high-class destination Tambeau could be referring to (because let’s face it, LAX and YYC could not be more different), pull back and look no further than the historic GRAND Theatre; an iconic inner-city building that has seen the 403 evolve big time since having been built over 100 years ago.

This place really is as old Hollywood as it gets, so we’re really in for a treat!

Now, though they still have yet to announce a grand opening date, we suggest marking a few Saturdays off in your calendar this summer as a buffer, because there’s a catch.

Unfortunately, despite its timeless concept, Dark Arts will only be open for 3 months leaving you little time to get familiar menu, the works of art and the staff (which they hope to find during a hiring fair that they’re holding from June 11th to the 12th.)

They say if you love something then you should let it go, but we think that this one will be a hard one to give up.

Check back in for more updates as we get them and remember to stay safe and be smart. We’ll be over here counting the minutes until we can see you all out there again!
