Happy new year, Toronto! A new chapter has begun and what better way to kick off the first weekend of 2025 than with a little fun? There is plenty to do in the city from Cirque Du Soleil performances to NHL and NBA games. These are 10 of the best things to do this weekend in Toronto.

Winterfest

This is the last weekend of Winterfest, a cozy holiday market at Toronto’s Harbourfront Centre.

Festival-goers can expect local eats, mulled wine, s’mores and handmade treasures along a vendors lane. Skating at the harbourfront will also be open, free of cost, with skate rentals also free of charge (while supplies last).

North American International Motorcycle Supershow

International Centre is hosting a massive motorcycle show this weekend. The festivities include live music, new and used motorcycles, parts and accessories, rider apparel, helmets, performance equipment and trailers.

Tickets can be purchased for Friday, Saturday or Sunday startting at $27.91 per ticket.

The Bentway skating

If you haven’t strapped on your skates yet this season, now is the time.

The Bentway’s 220m outdoor figure-eight skate trail is open from 12 p.m. until 9 p.m. everday this weekend and is free to use.

The Silence of the Lambs screening

Silence of the Lambs is a cult classic and if you want to see it on the big screen, Friday or Sunday are your chances.

Fox Theatre will be showing the film starring Jodie Foster and Anthony Hopkins at 9:20 p.m. on Friday and 9:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Cirque Du Soleil Twas The Night Before

Cirque Du Soleil only has a handful of shows left in Toronto, so grabbing tickets for this Friday at Meridian Hall is a must.

The Raptors are getting things going this new year with a matchup at home against Orlando Magic.

Evergreen Brick Works Farmers Market

Evergreen Brick Works has an indoor farmers market that will make you feel like it’s summer again.

Running on Saturdays, the market features local vendors selling everything from delicious wagyu to delectable pastries.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Boston Bruins

Go Leafs, go! The Toronto Maple Leafs are hosting the Boston Bruins on Saturday in what is sure to be an exciting meeting.

Tickets are still available and start at $248.50.

Mayor’s Skating Party

“Celebrate and glide into the new year with skating parties hosted by Mayor Olivia Chow and Toronto City Council at four locations across the city,” says City of Toronto.

The locations include Nathan Phillips Square, Colonel Samuel Smith Park, North Toronto Memorial Community Centre and McCowan District Park and will have music, free hot chocolate and free skate rentals.

When: Sunday, Jan. 5 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Philadelphia Flyers
