There's a trolley tour to see Christmas lights all over this charming Ontario city

Picture this: you’re cozied up and sitting aboard a festive trolley as Christmas music plays and sights of beautiful light displays pass by. In Kingston, Ont., this festive fantasy can be a reality! Kingston Trolley Tours is offering a Christmas light-viewing trolley tour, and it’s the perfect way to spend an evening this holiday season.
All aboard!
The Kingston Trolley Tours will run the Christmas light viewing trolley from Thursday to Sunday from Dec. 4 to 7, 2025, and then daily from Dec. 10 to 31. Timeslots begin at 5:30 p.m. most evenings.
If you’re driving from Toronto, getting to Kingston will take you around three and a half hours, and if you’re coming from near Ottawa, around two hours. The trolleys depart from 248 Ontario St. in Kingston’s downtown core.
While aboard the 75-minute journey, guests can join in singing carols as the trolley zips around the city, taking passengers to see stunning holiday light displays.
You will need to book your timeslot and purchase tickets ahead of your visit, which you can do online.
Tickets start at $19 for children ages two to 15 and cost $38 for anyone 16 and older. Babies who are aged two and under can ride the holiday trolley for free.
I highly recommend grabbing a bite before or after your tour, and Red House is the perfect spot. It’s within walking distance from where the trolley departs, serving up local brews and comforting entrees such as deep-fried pickles, pulled pork sandwiches, poutine, and burgers.
The festive season is alive and well in Kingston.
