You may not think about it but there are awards for nearly every industry including the aviation travel industry. It just so happens that the Skytrax World Airport Awards took place this week and Seattle’s very own SEATAC or SEA airport as it’s now called is pretty beloved. Here’s where SEATAC ranks among the worlds top 100 airports.

The Skytrax World Airport Awards are a great honor to receive for those in the industry and have been taking place since 1999.

SEA caught a lot of attention, placing #18 in the overall awards for world airports, #2 for cleanest in North America, and #2 for best staff in North America.

These are the top ten best airports in the world:

  1. Singapore Changi
  2. Doha Hamad
  3. Tokyo Haneda
  4. Seoul Incheon
  5. Paris CDG
  6. Istanbul
  7. Munich
  8. Zurich
  9. Tokyo Narita
  10. Madrid Barajas

While we aren’t in the top ten, our ranking still means SEA is the best airport in North America for the second year running!

SEA states that the airport “continues to focus on a suite of improvements that make the airport experience less stressful and more predictable. That includes beautifully modernized spaces such as new dining and retail options in the N Concourse, the fully renovated and expanded Central Terminal, and the International Arrivals Facility.”

Port of Seattle Commission President Sam Cho had this supportive message for the airport: “I want to give major kudos to our airport employees and partners for this back-to-back recognition.”

“Excellence in aviation is a team effort,” Cho added. “The Port Commission sets a vision for the airport, but every single employee and partner played a role in executing the vision and earning this top ranking. It’s a huge achievement and we are honored to share it with the entire SEA Airport team. We are well on our way to building a port of the future.”
