We’ve got some good news, Vancouver! Today, the Ministry of Labour announced job-protected leave for workers to get vaccinated, or help someone who is dependent on them get vaccinated. They also caught up to some federal regulations for benefits while they were at it! Here’s a little more info.

The new job-protected leave affects both full-time and part-time workers. Plus, it covers whatever travel may be needed to receive a vaccine. For those with dependents who are receiving the vaccine before them, they can also take time off to help with that.

Meanwhile, workers can now also take time off to help a family member manage COVID-19, instead of just a child or dependent adult. This more general rule has already been adopted by the Canada Recovery Caregiving Benefit. So, it’s more just playing catchup with the federal government.
