People, we just found one heck of a way to walk into the holiday season. And it’s full of dance, music, happy hours, holiday splurging and everything else we love about the festive season. Enter: Gastown Thursday Nights – Holiday Edition
Oh yes, the holiday-themed events are back in the Gastown neighbourhood.
Every Thursday, starting November 24th to December 22nd, Gastown will host free events and activations taking place around the neighbourhood.
Expect returning favourites like special discounts, the Kiss Me In Gastown hunt (starting December 1) and 12 Days of Gastown giveaways. And new features including late night shopping, mariachi performances and Indigenous-led storytelling and singing and tons more.
Here’s a quick low down of everything happening in this happening hood—
The Magical Mistletoe
ICYMI, Gastown has a holiday ritual of hanging 150 mistletoe swags in different locations throughout the neighbourhood. So, you hunt them down, kiss your special someone, snap your pic and share it on Insta with #KissMeInGastown. Adorbs, right? And thanks to the decked-up neighbourhood, the pics turn out pretty cute too.
The 12 Days of Awesome
Of course, there are giveaways. Gastown is bringing back its 12 Days in Gastown series from December 1st to 12th. Each of the days you can win something unique and local that you’ll only find in Gastown. Follow them on the ‘Gram for more details.
The Specials & Shopping After-hours
If you’ve ever prayed for a few extra hours to squeeze in all the holiday shopping, your prayers have been answered. You’ll find stores open until 7 PM and even after on Thursdays. Partnering stores include Gifts And Things, The Nooks, Kimprints, Reform Pilates and Dutil Denim. You can also get your hands on special discounts and free holiday treats as you surf the Gastown streets.
The Art & Entertainment
Frankly, we can’t decide where to start. With the Lumière Festival featuring Indigenous performers, window takeovers featuring dancing at Herschel (Dec 1) and CICA (Dec 8) or the singing session by Kung Jaadee. Throughout the season, you’ll find exciting entertainment in the neighbourhood that you wouldn’t want to miss.
The Very Happy Hour
Everyone knows that the only thing better than a Happy Hour is an extended Happy Hour. And you’ll find these much-needed extended Happy Hours at several Gastown restaurants and pubs. Club this with the electric beats and upbeat vibes and you have yourself a great start to the party season.
The Free Rides – Starting December 1
Another returning favourite is the free minutes with Evo Car Share. Like last year, Gastown and Evo have partnered to give you free 15-minute drives to anyone Evo-ing to Gastown. In addition, you can earn 5 bonus minutes by DM-ing your Thursday Nights in Gastown pics to Evo. And of course, you can use the free Evo parking. Take advantage of this awesome offer starting December 1.
