Here are some great new restaurants to check out in Vancouver this month.
This new restaurant in the Vancouver House has been on our radar for months. First off, it comes from one of the folks who opened the beloved Au Comptoir in Kitsilano. And second, the focus here is on authentic crepes, both sweet and savoury, with a nice list of local ciders to wash it down.
When: Open Wednesday to Monday, Closed Tuesday
Where: 1471 Continental Street
Here’s an interesting one- a new Gastown restaurant that focuses on, of all things, Swiss cuisine. We’ve got two dishes in mind here- rösti (a kind of potato pancake) skillets, and of course, some delicious fondue to share with your friends.
When: Open Tuesday to Sunday, Closed Monday
Where: 2 Water Street

This new Kin Kao outpost is not just a carbon copy of the Commercial Drive location. Instead, you’ll find a focus on vegan-friendly options that are perfect for a colder day, alongside some of their greatest hits. Keep it in mind for the next time you need something hearty.
When: Open daily
Where: 317 E Broadway
The spirit of the Vernon Drive Grocery lives on with this new concept. Rise Up is a new bodega-like spot, offering baked goods, sandwiches and more alongside the convenience store fare. If you live nearby, this is sure to become a community staple. And if not, treat yourself with a visit one lunch hour.
When: Open Monday to Saturday, Closed Sunday
Where: 704 Vernon Drive
Speaking of multifaceted spots, we’ve got this new venture from the folks at DL Chicken. Alongside sneakers and skateboards for sale, The Drive Canteen will also have a variety of hot dogs (glizzies) and nachos to try out. Just browse the merchandise beforehand, that’s all we’ll say.
When: Slated to open ‘very soon’
Where: 1111 Commercial Drive
Construction is more or less done on this new concept from the ever-popular Afghan Kitchen in Surrey. Now, they’re testing out menu items and drinks, in the hopes of opening by the end of the month or at the start of next. One thing’s for sure- the interior design is going to be a worth a visit in and of itself.
When: Slated to open late November or early December
Where: 2102 Main Street
