First- the weather’s nicer, which makes outdoor options that much better. Second- some great festivals are coming to the city. And third- a fair number of the city’s seasonal options are back up and running! So, let’s make the most of the next month.

DOWNTOWN SPARK

Block parties, art installations, food trucks… and to cap it all off, this spring celebration is free to visit! Definitely worth a trip downtown while it’s on.

EDMONTON INTERNATIONAL JAZZ FESTIVAL

For a little bit of a high-class night out, know that the Jazz Festival is back in the city this month! Hear acclaimed artists from close to home and around the world, at a variety of venues ranging from heritage spaces to the Ice District Plaza (which, yes, means they’re free!).

EDMONTON PRIDE FEST

After a 3-year hiatus, Edmonton is finally going to see another Pride Fest this June! A massive new festival is currently in the works, and will be taking over Churchill Square in the heart of the city.

EDMONTON FILIPINO FIESTA

Good eats, good music, and a great culture to celebrate! The Edmonton Filipino Fiesta returns this month, taking over Borden Park for two straight days on fun.

NEXTFEST

Nextfest has been an important part of the city for over two decades, giving up and coming artists from a variety of backgrounds and disciplines to showcase their talent.

UP ON THE SQUARE

Speaking of the arts, the Edmonton Arts Council is hosting a one-day-only, family friendly event in June! Expect food trucks, live demonstrations, workshops and more if you head down there.

WHC SUMMER SERIES

Wild Heart Collective’s 124 Grand Market is back for the summer. The food and drink event (plus a little shopping and entertainment) will be running Thursday, Saturdays, and Sundays at locations around the city.

EDMONTON VALLEY ZOO

There’s always something new at the zoo! Especially this summer, where you’ll get to check out some incredible Lego sculptures alongside all the adorable animals chilling down there.

Edmonton’s local golf courses are finally open for the season. And while finding an actual tee-time for cheap is relative, we can say that a trip to the driving range is as much as breakfast at McDonald’s! Borrow a pal’s clubs and go have some fun.

ART GALLERY OF ALBERTA

The AGA has got a serious amount of stuff to check out in June. If you’re curious, there are over half a dozen exhibitions and installations on view! General admission ain’t so bad, but head down on the final Thursday of every month for admission by donation night.

As much as we love a state-of-the-art theatre, we might like this local option even more! Metro Cinema has always got a great selection of movies to check out, from cult comedies to art-house to things even we’ve never heard of!

THE GRINDSTONE THEATRE

If live entertainment is more your speed, this is our recommendation. Comedy shows, small plays, fun satires… the Grindstone has it all, and wants you to come see for yourself. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that this is one of the most reasonably priced options on our list.
