The weekend is here and we could not be more ready for it. For the first time in a long time, there’s actually quite a bit going on in Toronto! Quite the 180 from all the closures we’ve been powering through for the past several months. As the city continues to bounce back from the still ongoing COVID-19 crisis, we’re looking ahead to all the great stuff we’ve got in store. This weekend, there’s plenty of that.

Editors Note: Due to the ongoing effects of COVID-19, provincial and city guidelines are continually changing. Please double-check business closures and restrictions before proceeding.

Here are 10 things to do in Toronto this weekend.

This awesome 70s-style event is kicking off this weekend and we are pumped. Head on over to The Bentway for a retro nostalgic pop-up of rentable roller skates. You can zip through the figured eight formations of pavement and enjoy the great summer vibes.

Where: The Bentway, 250 Fort York Blvd
When: Kicking off Saturday, June 19th

Speaking of great summer vibes, we’ve got to hit up the islands! This weekend, head on over on the Bud Light Pride Water Taxi to experience a party celebration before you even get there. The taxi will have a DJ onboard and tons of great merch up for grabs. Oh, and once you’re on the island there’s all the beaches, boardwalks, and other amazing activities to explore.

Where: Toronto Harbour, 145 Queens Quay
When: Bud Light Pride Water Taxis running all weekend

Another great throwback activity that’s kicking off this weekend is the drive-in movies at Ontario Place. Stop by for amazing screenings all weekend long. The spot is kicking things off with Pulp Fiction. Plus, they’ve got loads of other great flicks in store in the coming weeks.

Where: 955 Lakeshore Blvd
When: First screening Friday, June 18th

Looking for a little exercise? Look no further. The city’s new pilot program ParkFitTO is bringing tons of great outdoor fitness classes to you. The social-distance friendly way to get active has folks gathering (in groups of 10 or less) to work up a sweat outdoors. There are tons of classes available for folks at all fitness levels.

Where: Find your nearest outdoor workout class here
When: Any day this weekend

Father’s Day is this weekend, so don’t forget to celebrate your old man while you’re out and about having fun. Not sure what gift to get him? We never know what to get dads either! You can find a little inspiration at our gift guide full of great ideas right here.

When: Sunday, June 20th

Or take him to the farmer’s market! Dad’s like fresh produce, right?? This Sunday stop by High Park to peruse a selection of great local goodies. Farm fresh eats are the perfect addition to any park picnic you may be planning this weekend.

Where: 255 GlenLake Ave
When: Sunday, June 20th

You can catch some tunes for FREE this weekend when you check out the performances being put on my Pirate Life. Down at the waterfront, local artists and bands are hanging out on a boat to practice and perform. All you have to do is walk by (or find a place to sit for a while) and you’ll catch all the music.

Where: 635 Queens Quay W
When: Performances happening all weekend

If you’re planning a beach day this weekend, be sure to keep your eye out for the poignant exhibit taking over the Harbourfront. The Corona Canada Plastic Beachgoers are life-sized sculptures created entirely out of actual plastic cleared from the shoreline. They’re certainly a creepy sight to see, with a very important message behind them.

Where: Southeast corner of the Harbourfront beside the Queens Quay Terminal
When: Saturday, June 19th & Sunday, June 20th

Every pup is a good pup, which is why they deserve the best. Treat your furry friend this weekend to a scoop of puppy ice cream by In Dogs We Trust. This local company makes hand-crafted small-batch treats unlike any other. They’ve got their next restock scheduled for this Sunday, so be sure to check ’em out before products sell out.

Where: Check it out online
When: Next drop scheduled for Sunday, June 20th

Got a special someone in your life? Treat them to a romantic date this weekend just because. There’s tons of great stuff to do with a significant other in this city; from sunset watching, to paddle boarding, to going for a hike.
