We’ve got a great weekend of weather to look forward to, Edmonton! So, we’re thinking that you make the most of it with some great activities around the city. Grab a bite to eat, get outside, treat yourself at home… you’ve got options, and they’re all looking nice.

Here are 10 things to do this weekend in Edmonton.

WATCH SOME MOVIES OUTSIDE

The International Festival of Winter Cinema has returned! Over the next few days, you can check out amazing winter and mountain films in the perfect setting. Why? Because it’s an outdoor experience! What’s more, this isn’t a last-minute change- these folks have been hosting it outdoors for years.

When: On until Saturday, March 13th
Where: 9641 102A Avenue NW
Cost: $5 and up recommended donation per ticket

HAVE FUN WITH FIDO

Know who else is going to be pumped about the weather? Every dog in Edmonton. Treat them (and yourself) to a change of scenery and try out a new dog park. There are tons of options around the city, and we picked out some of our favourites for you.

ZOOM AROUND ON SOME GO-KARTS

While you can’t pubstomp some 12-year-olds, we think that a trip to the new DRIVE Go-Kart track in West Ed is a solid idea. You can book the entire thing for a heavily discounted price, but, the catch is that everyone needs to be from the same household. Good idea for families or those with multiple roommates.

When: Reservations daily
Where: Inside West Edmonton Mall
Cost: $249 for 2 private races

DRIVE-IN OPERA: SONGS OF SPRING

There are still spots left for the Saturday concert of the Drive-In Opera! If you’re craving some live music, then this is an incredible option. Plus, opera adds a great touch of class to our otherwise pretty mainstream lives. Just us? Alright.

When: Saturday, March 13th
Where: Jubilee Auditorium Parking Lot, 11455 87 Ave NW
Cost: $40 per car

GO ON A MINI ROAD TRIP

Without a doubt, Edmonton wipes the floor with Calgary when it comes to nearby roadside attractions. If you’re looking to go for a Sunday morning cruise, then maybe swing by some of the craziest ones in the province. Sure, everyone knows about the Giant Perogy, but what about a Giant Bee?

SKIRTSAFIRE FESTIVAL

This festival showcases the work and talent of Edmonton’s women-identifying and non-binary artists. The fest is split between online and outdoor performances, so you’ve got multiple ways to enjoy it. Tune in from the comfort of your home, or explore the city!

SWEET TREATS & LATTE FESTIVAL

Feeling a little peckish? This food and drink festival in Old Strathcona is already on! We say make an afternoon of it and pick 4-5 spots you want to try, then walk around the neighbourhood picking them up. You’ll get a little exercise, followed by some immediate rewards.

Where: Around Old Strathcona

CHECK OUT DATE NIGHT UNDER THE STARS

It’s the last weekend to check out this new experience of the U of A Botanic Garden. While the ice slide might have melted, the tradeoff is a much warmer stroll around the beautiful gardens. Toss in some food and maybe some stargazing and you’ll have a ball!

When: Until Sunday, March 14th
Where: Parkland County, Alberta
Cost: $20 (extra for add-on experiences)

EATS ON 118TH

Here’s another food festival to check out this month. This one, however, has some heartier options. The participating restaurants are offering meal deals priced at $15-$25. The list and menus are definitely worth checking out if you’re craving something new next month.

When: Now on!
Where: Along Alberta Avenue

That’s what we’ve picked for you this weekend, folks! We hope that you enjoy yourselves out there.
