Happy Sunday, folks! Well, here we are, staring down the last week of April in Edmonton. And while it might start a little rocky weather-wise, we’ve got high hopes as the week goes on. So, we’re keeping that optimism in our roundup of some great options around the city over the next few days.

Here are 10 things to do in Edmonton this week.

BREAD AND CIRCUS FUNDRAISER

Hosted by Edmonton’s own Firefly Theatre and Circus, this event combines cooking class, circus acts and live-streamed music. Learn to make Fougasse Bread, courtesy of Get Cooking, while performers all over the world show off their skills for you.

When: Friday, April 30th
Where: Online
Cost: $100 per household

GRINDSTONE THEATRE FUNDRAISER

It’s the week of fundraisers, we guess! In contrast to Bread and Circus, the Grindstone Theatre is putting together a raffle (with a potential $10k grand prize) that you can grab tickets from all week long. Then, on Friday, sit back and enjoy a livestreamed event courtesy of the theatre!

When: Up until Friday, April 30th
Where: Online
Cost: Varies

GRAB SOME GROCERIES

Farmers markets combine good food, great groceries, and the ability to support local businesses all into one experience. And with the warmer weather later on in the week, we might just have the energy to try and cook a meal by ourselves for once.

When: Friday to Sunday weekly
Where: 3696 97 Street
Cost: Free

STREAM A MOVIE

One major first-world problem that’s been nagging us for months is not being able to watch a movie at our local theatre. Well, we can catch some of that magic at home thanks to the Metro Cinema, which is hosting virtual screenings of some off-the-beaten-path picks.

When: Streaming throughout the week
Where: Online
Cost: Varies

CHECK OUT NEW DIGITAL INSTALLATIONS

All three of Edmonton’s newest public art installations have now arrived! Located at the Winspear Centre, the Citadel Theatre, and the Art Gallery of Alberta, these installations will showcase what the institutions can’t wait to bring back to Edmonton.

HIT THE LINKS

What we like about golf is that it straddles the line between a hobby and a sport. Feeling competitive? Walk the course and try to hit a new low score. Really just looking to kick back for a few hours outside? That’s practically what golf carts were created for.

When: Public courses now open!
Where: Locations around Edmonton
Cost: Varies

GO BIRD WATCHING

Welcome to the easiest bird-watching expedition you’ll go on all year. Three massive, glowing, inflatable chickadees have landed on the roof of the CO*LAB Building, and they’re just waiting for you to see them. Our advice? Try and get there for dusk, and mix in the sunset with the trip.

When: On until April 30th
Where: 9641 102A Ave

HEAD TO THE ZOO

For a more diverse animal experience (and a live one to boot), you can always head to the Edmonton Zoo! While the indoor exhibits are closed for the foreseeable future, you’ll still be able to enjoy all the outdoor ones. Watching red pandas zoom around? Yes, please!

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 13315 Buena Vista Road
Cost: $10.95 (reduced price)

Those are our picks this week, folks! We hope that you can enjoy yourselves out there.
