Happy Sunday, Edmonton! Here we are again, the end of a (hopefully fun) weekend and the start of a (hopefully fun) week. Of course, we’re back too, to try and help you plan out some great activities. From outdoor options to relaxing at home, it’s a good week to be in Edmonton!

Here are 10 things to do in Edmonton this week.

TAKE PART IN NATIONAL TAKEOUT DAY

Edmonton’s food scene has always been better-than-average, and that definitely extends to takeout. If you’re treating yourself this week, keep in mind that there’s a nationwide effort to set the record on Thursday. All you gotta do is fill out a few questions and bam! You’re part of it.

HIT UP THE FARMERS’ MARKETS

We love takeout and delivery as much as the next person. But, sometimes, it’s nice to just grab some fresh fruits and veggies, or some local baking, or a nice frozen meal. And, there’s no better place to do that than at Edmonton’s farmers’ markets!

When: Open throughout April
Where: Various locations

ROYAL ALBERTA MUSEUM FROM HOME

While it waits to reopen, the Royal Alberta Museum offers a wide variety of educational options that you can access online. Explore the collections on virtual tours, learn to build a banjo (awesome), or take some custom-made quizzes to learn more about the museum.

Where: Online

WATCH SOME HOCKEY

The Oilers continuously prove themselves as a top contender this season. And, with only a few weeks left in the regular season, we’re expecting some pretty fierce action. Add in nonstop regional rivalries, and we’re looking at an April filled with hockey excitement!

When: Games throughout the week

BID ON AN ONLINE AUCTION

The local company Curiosity Inc. (a good name) has partnered with Kastner Auctions to sell a boatload of items and artifacts from Alberta’s Stan Reynolds Museum. If you ever needed to get an ancient Roman coin, or some weird art, or even a fossil or two, this is your chance.

GO BIRD WATCHING

Welcome to the easiest bird-watching expedition you’ll go on all year. Three massive, glowing, inflatable chickadees have landed on the roof of the CO*LAB Building, and they’re just waiting for you to see them. Our advice? Try and get there for dusk, and mix in the sunset with the trip.

When: On until April 30th
Where: 9641 102A Ave

CHECK OUT A NEW BREAKFAST SPOT

Originally from Quebec, Pür & Simple has chosen Edmonton to open up its first Alberta location! The restaurant seems to be a hit all over Canada, so we’re curious to see just how great it is. After all, you can never test out too many waffles and eggs benedicts.

When: Now open

STREAM A MOVIE

While we’d classify the majority of them as ‘films’ (lifts pinky) instead of movies, the Metro Cinema has some great options that give you more to talk about than ‘Green guy go smash’. But hey, who are we to judge the psychological transformation of Dr. Banner?

If you want to double down on culture at home this week, you could also check out the upcoming Canadian premiere of More Than Dance, We Are a Movement. The film follows the Red Sky Performance group as they perform two amazing dances called Trace and Miigs.
