VMF Winter Arts

This free arts fest wraps up on Sunday! Augmented reality installations will be set up around the city, and there will also be live events and outdoor hangouts to attend, including an open-air stop for drinks and food.

Live theatre is back in Vancouver, and one of the best ways to experience it is at the Arts Club. They’re showing some fun stuff both in-person and online, but we’re focused on a live-action version of Kim’s Convenience.

Gerald’s Game: In Conversation with Director Mike Flanagan & Carla Gugino

Meanwhile, the film and TV buffs out there might want to check this out! Gerald’s Game is arguably the starting point of Mike Flanagan’s mainstream career, and it would be super fun to get some insight on his process.

Disco Night

Those looking for some real high energy tunes (dancing is back, after all) can look forward to Disco Night at the Commodore this week. Some great DJs and performers will be leading the charge, and it’s the perfect way to shake out the week’s burdens.

Love Lights at Capilano Suspension Bridge

You’re running out of time to check out this romance-themed version of Canyon Lights. The ‘Love Lights’ experience will wrap up at the end of the month, so make sure to check it out sooner rather than later.

Rolla Skate Club at the PNE

Looking to avoid a rainy weekend? Now a permanent option at the PNE, you can enjoy days and evenings of both family-friendly and adults-only roller skating! It’s a great mix up for date night, or as a weekend outing.

Head to the Garden(s)

Of course, an outside option could be just what you need. We recently heard that both the Nitobe Memorial Garden and the UBC Botanical Garden are admission by donation until the start of April!

Celebrate Black History Month

Contemporary Art Gallery

This free to visit gallery in downtown Vancouver just opened two new exhibits that you can check out. Alex Morrison’s “Nooks and Corners” explores the ‘aesthetics of utopian thought’. Meanwhile, Canadian artist Alison Yip’s “Soma Topika” uses a variety of mediums to explore the ways that humans experience “time, space, self, and relationships”. We might not get it off the hop, but there’s no denying it’s fun to check out!
