Here are the 10 best things to do in Edmonton this weekend.

CATCH THE BATTLE OF ALBERTA

That’s right folks, the Oilers are facing off against the Flames! Not only is it fun in its own right, but this is the first time in over a year that you’ll be able to watch them in person. Not a very hard sell, is it?

CHECK OUT EDMONTON’S FIRST FOOD HALL

Just steps away from Rogers Place, the 5th Street Food Hall is sure to become a popular spot now that the NHL season has started. Heck, we think you should get a head start this weekend even!

Where: 10344 105 Street NW

DISCOVER THE WORLD IN A NEW WAY

The IMAX theatre at the Telus World of Science is back! And to celebrate, they’re showing some incredible travel documentaries of incredible destinations in Canada and beyond. You might not be able to see the pyramids for yourself anytime soon, so this is a great alternative.

Cost: $14.95

HAVE AN EVENING UNDER THE STARS

Did the Northern Lights get you thinking about the universe? Yeah, same here. Luckily, Edmonton is under an hour away from Elk Island Park, which is one of the few designated dark sky preserves in Canada. You might not see the lights, but we guarantee you’ll still be in awe!

LAUGH IT UP AT THE EDMONTON COMEDY FESTIVAL

ENJOY THE EDMONTON CORN MAZE

Young and old alike can appreciate the value of a good corn maze during the fall. And honestly, the Edmonton Corn Maze is amongst the best in the country. Massive, and featuring a new design every year,  a trip here is going to be a breath of fresh air (literally) this weekend.

When: Open throughout the weekend
Where: 26171 Garden Valley Road, Spruce Grove
Cost: $13.50+

DARK: FORT EDMONTON PARK

This year, Fort Edmonton Park has gone with 3 different concepts, each of which is spooky in its own right. Check out ‘Under the Big Top’ to see Midway attractions (and employees) that have taken a decidedly wrong turn. Or, get a little industrial at ‘Core Industries’, as you try and retrieve a fungus sample that has ‘mutated’ the workers inside. Our top pick, though, is ‘Blood Harvest’, which is set on a farm and has some serious ‘Children of the Corn’ vibes going for it.

When: Now open!
Where: 7000 143 Street NW
Cost: $45 for GA

DEADMONTON HAUNTED HOUSE

Alongside Dark, the super-popular Deadmonton Haunted House has returned, with not one but two super scary experiences. Warped is their main attraction, and offers a twisted look at Area 51, while Dusk is an outdoor experience inspired by a New Orleans cemetery haunt.

When: On throughout the week
Where: 7031 Gateway Boulevard
Cost: $29.99+

SPOOK YOURSELF ON A GHOST TOUR

Feel more like dipping your toes into spooky season? A great option comes from Edmonton Ghost Tours, which offers a variety of tours showcasing the less-than-savoury history of the city. But hey, if you’re looking for a great mix of spooky and informative, this is it!

When: Tours throughout the weekend
Where: 10322 83rd Avenue
Cost: $22.23

VISIT A HAUNTED PUMPKIN U-PICK FARM

Finally, for a truly family-friendly option we’ve got Prairie Gardens! This massive u-pick farm just outside Vancouver offers everything from pumpkin displays to ghost town walks and even a pumpkin cannon. If we get some nice weather this weekend, this is a great option.

That’s what we’ve got in mind this weekend, Edmonton! Have some fun out there for us.
