FIFA WORLD CUP EDMONTON

That’s right folks- international soccer is coming to Edmonton! The Canada Men’s National Team is playing two qualifying events this week, with the first being against Costa Rica. Tickets are currently sold out (!!), but keep an eye out for (verified) resale tickets going up this week.

HOT BOY SUMMER

If you’re looking to laugh it up, this could be a great option. The Grindstone is putting on a satirical musical of Premier Kenney’s ‘best summer ever’, set as an end-of-year university party.

CITADEL THEATRE

Speaking of live shows, the World War II-era rom-com The Fiancee kicked off over the weekend for a 5-week run, covering the story of a woman who gets engaged with a few different men as they head off to war. Should be a fun little live show to check out!

PARANORMAL TOURS AT FORT EDMONTON PARK

Already feeling like spooky season didn’t last long enough? This is perfect for you. Fort Edmonton Park is once again hosting guided ‘Paranormal Tours’ that explore the creepiest parts of the historic park. The 3-hour long tour is meant for adults and is guaranteed to give you some goosebumps.

NERO (DJ SET)

Spooky, but in a different way. The UK EDM trio Nero are coming to Edmonton this week, for a DJ set at Union Hall. Known for dark, bass-heavy sounds, this is going to be a great mix of high energy and danceable tunes. Of course, maybe give their stuff a listen if you haven’t already before buying tickets.

WATCH A MOVIE

Yes, this is a straightforward option, but there are tons of new movies worth checking out in theatres right now. Our top pick? Denis Villeneuve’s new sci-fi epic Dune, which we won’t hesitate to say is the motion picture event of the year.

LASER FLOYD: DARK SIDE OF THE MOON

The Zeidler Dome at the Telus World of Science has brought back its laser shows, kicking off with the most iconic soundtrack of them all- Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon. Definitely worthwhile for anyone who likes music or pretty lights, which covers most people.

ROGUE WAVE COFFEE

Ready for a great cup of joe? Head to Rogue Wave. The co-owner, Ply Pasarj, was recently named not only the best barista in Canada, but also 5th in the entire world. Yeah, this is going to be a great treat for your next on-the-way-to-work stop or as an afternoon pick-me-up.

ART GALLERY OF ALBERTA

This week is going to be the perfect opportunity to check out the AGA, since there are a ton of exhibitions to check out. In addition to the permanent collection, there are now a whopping 8 different temporary exhibitions in there as well.

MUTTART CONSERVATORY

It’s nice to know that Edmonton has its own slice of summer, thanks to the Muttart Conservatory. This indoor botanical garden is the perfect place to unwind after a long day, or relax with a friend during the weekend. Either way, it’s sure to get more and more popular as temperatures drop.
