Well here we are, Edmonton! The last full week of August, which also means one of the last weeks of summer. So naturally, we’ve included a few picks off our summer bucket list, just in case you needed to cross a few options off sooner rather than later.

Here are 10 of the best things to do this week in and around Edmonton.

EDMONTON CORN MAZE

The Edmonton Corn Maze is back for another season! This year, the design is inspired by the folks over at the Edmonton Food Bank. A must-visit for all ages, the corn maze is just one of those classic summer experiences you always enjoy.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 26171 Garden Valley Road, Spruce Grove
Cost: $13.50+ for GA

MUTTART CONSERVATORY

It was a long time coming, but the Muttart Conservatory has returned to the city! This iconic Edmonton attraction is a must-do on those less than stellar summer days. Heck, we even like visiting when the sun is shining, and especially if it’s paired with a walk in the park before or after.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 9626 96a Street NW
Tickets: $14.95 for GA

WATCH A MOVIE

If you need a little more relaxed choice, Edmonton’s movie theatres have reopened! All of the Cineplex locations are back, but we usually check out what’s playing at local theatres like the Metro Cinema first. Why? Because we’re film buffs, that’s why.

When: Showtimes throughout August
Where: 8712 109 Street NW
Cost: $13

FORT EDMONTON PARK

Fort Edmonton Park only opened a few weeks ago, but has already proven that the updated attraction is definitely worth a visit. From an updated midway to brand new things like an Indigenous Peoples Experience, this is going to be amazing to visit once more.

When: Open Wednesday to Sunday
Where: 7000 143 Street NW
Cost: $26.20 for GA

SEE IF YOU HAVE A FEAR OF HEIGHTS

Ready to find your aerial limit? This beloved local attraction is a great way to get outside. And as an extra bonus, two more attractions have opened this year as well- a mining experience, and a target golf area! Pro tip- head down on a Thursday night to save a few bucks on admission.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 13204 Rainbow Valley Road NW
Cost: $37+

DRIVE OUT TO THE GARDEN

The stunning U of A Botanic Garden, which is really like four different gardens combined, is in full summer swing! Located just outside Edmonton, the garden offers hours of relaxation and beauty, and some fun architecture to boot. Really, it’s a must-do activity for nature lovers.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: Parkland County, Alberta
Cost: $18.75

GEOSCAPES DINNER

This dinner series proved so popular that it came back for the summer! Hosted by a local chef, these dinners are guaranteed to be a unique experience. After all, you’re eating a gourmet meal (with drink add-ons to match) in an air-conditioned dome protecting you from the elements! Sounds like a scene out of Blade Runner 2049, to be honest.

When: Starts Friday, August 6th
Where: 13204 Rainbow Valley Rd NW
Cost: $125 per person, 4 person booking minimum

STEP INTO THE PAST

The Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village has returned for the summer. This expertly preserved cultural village offers an authentic look at the lives of settlers during the late 19th/early 20th century. Sure, it’s a little bit of a curveball for a pick, but we like it!

When: Open Wednesday to Sunday
Where: Highway 16 E, Lamont County
Cost: $15 for GA

IMAGINE VAN GOGH

Originally from Europe, this exhibition showcases the artist’s best works on a larger-than-life scale, using high-quality projectors and audio for a more immersive experience. If you’re looking for a fun blend of art and technology, then this is a great time.

When: Open throughout the week
Where: 7515 118 Avenue NW
Cost: $41.61 and up for GA

WATCH A LASER SHOW

For a little bit different experience, we can’t recommend laser shows at Telus World of Science’s Zeidler Dome enough. This state-of-the-art theatre is one of the few places across Canada to still offer shows set to the likes of Pink Floyd and Daft Punk. Way better than sitting around a record player, that’s for sure.

When: Open throughout the weekend
Where: 11211 142 Street NW
Cost: Included with admission

That’s our roundup for this week! Have fun out there, Edmonton!
